I doubt that there could have been a more fitting way for Zambia to kick off its participation at the world-renowned Cape Town Mining Indaba than to have KoBold Metals announce that the development of a mega copper mine is on the horizon for Zambia.
To quote Reuters:
“KoBold Metals, a California-based metals exploration company backed by billionaires Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, said it may consider partnerships as it plans to fast-track development of a new copper mine in Zambia that could cost about $2 billion.
The Silicon Valley start-up, which uses artificial intelligence to search for copper, cobalt, nickel and lithium could also consider listing its shares publicly in the next three-to-four years, Josh Goldman, its co-founder and president, told Reuters.”
