Zambia’s debt renegotiation rollercoaster

News on Zambia’s debt renegotiation in the last few days has been dominated by what seems like an impasse. It has Zambia in the middle, the IMF as moderator or referee overhead, the bondholders on one hand and the official creditors on the other. See Figure 1 for the notable developments in the restructuring journey since April 2023.
