Imagine Zambia as a plane that commenced its 2024 trip immediately after it concluded its 2023 journey. The weather conditions (global environment) coupled with the performance of the plane itself (Zambia’s performance), combined to deliver a fairly turbulent flight for the 20 million passengers on board, her citizens.
The pilot and crew, His Excellency the President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema and the rest of the Government, have spelled out the flight path and aircraft maintenance plan.
These are intended to help Zambia get to its intended destination of meaningful economic growth that benefits the citizens.
Support aircraft and ground control towers in the form of partners such as the IMF and World Bank are providing ongoing support to help Zambia navigate the challenges faced whilst optimising its own performance.
I present my views to help facilitate a conversation on the unfolding journey that is Zambia’s economic recovery.
